USE HYPERTERMINAL CODE
However, I have code examples in my book and there are others avalialble online that should get you started with this part of the project. It is not practical to try to use Hyperterminal for the serial portion of the code. VBA code is not part of this forum activity. You then can parse data and write it to a file that can be read by Excel, or use managed code to write data using the Excel Object ModelĪnother option might be to use VBA from within Excel and an ActiveX control like NETComm.ocx for the serial portion (see my website) . It allows user to send basic ASCII commands to Slaughter test units and receive queries to ensure proper functionality. It also has support for I2C and a PIC Programmer (parallel port) although I have not used those features. What you should do is to use the SerialPort control in the toolbox to open the port and read data from that port. HyperTerminal is a program that can be used for simple communication with test instrumentation via a serial port. Hopefully if people have other terminal programs that they like, they will share their experiences also. Note: HyperTerminal was, by default, present in all windows versions before Windows 7. Just thought I would share this with everyone. It can be used to connect to Cyberoam using a Serial Console Port.

And last but not least, the program is Freeware. This document describes how to use the Microsoft HyperTerminal application in order to prove that your Brainboxes serial card is functioning correctly. The latest version of HyperTerminal is supported on PCs running Windows XP/7/8/10, 32-bit.
The most popular versions among HyperTerminal users are 7.0, 6.3 and 6.2. The program lies within Internet & Network Tools, more precisely Network Tools.

The program also allows you to send out any Hex values that you specify and not only the 'printable' characters from the keyboard. HyperTerminal 7.0 is free to download from our software library. What I like best about it is that you can display the incoming stream in ASCII, Hex, or a mixture of both. With HyperTerminal, you can now securely log on to a server or other computer over a TCP/IP network using the SSH protocol. The first three versions of Windows were Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 10.
USE HYPERTERMINAL WINDOWS 8.1
It has no support for dialing modems, BBS etc - that is what hyperterminal does. What Protocol Does Hyperterminal Use Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are now compatible with HyperTerminal. It is far better for debugging comms than Hyperterminal. Realterm is a terminal program specially designed for capturing, controlling and debugging binary and other difficult data streams. I’ll then use MS hyperterminal (until I write some better software) to send it a multi-character string. Open HyperTerminal by going to start -> All programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal. I use a program called RealTerm that I think is far better so I thought I would suggest it to others. So I’ll used an RS232 to 485 converter on the PC, then as far as I can tell, I connect my cable to a 120 terminating resistor and MAX485 chip, then connect the TTL side of this to my arduino serial pins. HyperTerminal is a program that is included with every version of the Microsoft Windows operating system and allows your PC to function as a computer terminal. I found out a long time ago that Hyperterminal was very limited in it's ability to be a useful debug tool. I see many posts with people using Hyperterminal when trying to debug serial communications with a PIC.
